Deirdre
Graham
Attended St. Andrews
Middle School, in Nassau and then went to school in North Yorkshire,
England, where she obtained several "O" and "A"
Levels.
With her
qualifications in Mathematics and Economics she was persuaded to
attend University and study Accounting, but she decided Fashion was
her passion and instead entered London College of Fashion in 1987 to
study all aspects of the fashion industry, in a Degree especially
designed too that, Bachelor of Science Degree In Clothing
Management. After the four-year course she took a job as an
Assistant to a Soho, London Designer and discovered that her
strengths lay more in the Retail Business side of Fashion.
To expand her
knowledge in Merchandising and Marketing she was accepted into
Fashion Institute and Technology, in New York in 1994. But
extraordinary bad weather delayed her and while waiting in Nassau,
to attend the following semester, she found a job as a Buyer with
Mademoiselle, the largest clothing retailer in The Bahamas. "It
was the ideal alternative and continues to be a great learning
experience."
As a teenager she was
one of a few Black Models in the North of England and while studying
in London she modeled to help supplement her income. Finding the
Modeling world to be fun but very fickle, Deirdre soon decided that
she had to no wish to pursue a career in that direction.
Her goal is to one
day develop a chain of stores geared around the concept of living,
and have them fit into into whatever environment they are located.
"You can achieve if you believe" is her philosophy.
