On-Line Launches Miss Bahamas Universe Web Site
February 8th, 2002:--Nassau, Bahamas:-
Bahamas On-Line, the leading Internet Service Provider and Gold
Partner for the Miss Bahamas Universe 2002 Pageant, today
officially launched the website for the Miss Bahamas Universe
Pageant www.missbahamasuniverse.com.
The first website for a Bahamian beauty pageant, was launched at
Bahamas On-Line’s headquarters at Centreville House during a
joint press conference to launch the pageant.
Mark Sweeting, vice president of Internet Operations at
Bahamas On-Line commended the Miss Bahamas Universe Organization
for its decision to make the pageant available online to
Bahamians and the world. “We are pleased to have the
opportunity to design the Miss Bahamas Universe website and to
host it on our portal www.bahamas.net.bs
.The Pageant’s organizers are visionary and we share that
vision that the Miss Bahamas Universe and indeed
every viable local entity must avail itself of Internet
technology to promote itself locally and globally.”
Mr. Sweeting also emphasized the tremendous amount of
exposure the site would provide for the pageant, delegates and
sponsors. “The site is
expected to receive 500 or more hits per day. That’s more than
10,000 a month. That’s a great deal of exposure. Bahamas
On-Line also offers a unique opportunity through the web to
hyperlink their logos to their websites or sponsor pages to
fully display their product lines and services. Such exposure
for sponsors, and indeed a Bahamian pageant was never before
available.”
National Pageant Director, Mr. Doug Gardiner, invited the
Bahamian community to visit the pageant web site, missbahamasuniverse.com for
up-to-date information on the pageant. “You will be able to
view all of the delegates, their profiles, bios and sponsors
on-line.
You can also learn about the organizers, hosts and ticket
venues. Pageant enthusiasts can also follow the delegates
schedule in the coming weeks and decide which events they’d
like to attend,” said Mr. Gardiner.
During the press conference, Deirdre Thompson, Bahamas
On-Line’s Public Relations & Marketing Manager and Richard
Sweeting, webmaster and designer of the site, briefly
illustrated how easy the site was to use. “The pageant site is
elegant, it’s eye-catching and yet very professional. Quite
comparable to other International pageant sites. But most
importantly, the site is extremely easy to comprehend and
navigate,” said Ms. Thompson.
Bahamas On-Line is also designing and facilitating a voting
poll to give the Bahamian public for the very first time an opportunity to vote
on-line for a beauty pageant delegate of their choice in the
first ever Miss Bahamas Universe On-Line Miss Photogenic
contest. That site will be launched in less than two weeks.
Voting begins on Feburary 20th, 2002.
