Should I be crowned queen, I would use this opportunity to inspire the lives of young people especially those of the Bahamas.  I feel that by reaching out to the youth and encouraging them to reach their full potential this will help to direct the future of the Bahamas and the world in a meaningful way.  I would like to motivate young persons to further their education so that they will be equipped with the necessary tools needed to compete on an international level.  I would advise my peers to find and pursue their passion because I feel that there is nothing more rewarding than being happy with the person you are.

WHY DID YOU JOIN THE MISS BAHAMAS UNIVERSE COMPETITION?
I want to be a positive role model for young people and help to reconnect the Bahamas with its creative spirit through which anything imaginable is possible.  I wish to represent the wave of change that will make the public reassess the meaning of an authentic beauty queen, that is, a young woman who is confident, intelligent, ambitious, sociable and humble.

IF YOU WERE TO BECOME MISS BAHAMAS 2009, WHAT WOULD BE THE FIRST THING THAT YOU WOULD DO?
I would send a message to all Bahamian women whose perception of beauty is superficial.  It would be a message that truly emphasizes the importance of self-acceptance and self-worth.  Young women must remember that beauty shines from within, reflects outward and is infectious.

WHAT IS THE MOST UNIQUE OR UNUSUAL THING THAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOU IN YOUR LIFE?
I was awarded the United World College Scholarship in 2006, which allowed me to pursue the International Baccalaureate program in Swaziland, southern Africa for two years.  The academic program, the new culture and environment were a rewarding experience that truly tested my self-definition and changed me into the open-minded and focused person I am today.

DO YOU THINK THE SWIMSUIT CONTEST AT BEAUTY PAGEANTS DEGRADES WOMEN?
There has been a steady evolution in pageantry locally and internationally.  It is more than the physical beauty of the young woman that is considered; the whole woman is assessed.  The swimsuit competition focuses on how well a young woman maintains her body, that is, her physical health and the aesthetic beauty of her body.  The swimsuit segment also showcases the young woman’s confidence, self-esteem and comfort in her own body.

GIVE AN IDEA OF WHAT YOUR NATIONAL COSTUME WILL BE AND WHAT DOES IT REPRESENTS?
My national costume will portray a precious resource of the Bahamas.  It is a resource about which all Bahamians should become more knowledgeable and take steps to conserve for future generations.

WHAT ARE THE THREE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO AS MISS BAHAMAS 2009?
I would like to change the general perception of a beauty queen.  Through my various initiatives I will lead by example.  I would love to encourage the youth of the Bahamas to reach their full potential and pursue their passion in life.

IF YOU HAD TO RESIDE ON ONE OF THE FAMILY ISLANDS IN THE BAHAMAS, WHICH WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
It would be Harbour Island. It is an island that exudes tranquility.  As soon as you set foot on this island the vibrant colors of the buildings, pink-hued sand, serene atmosphere and warm people will force you to leave your stress at the harbour.  When I visit Harbour Island I am reminded to appreciate and enjoy the simple joys of life such as a stroll along the beach at sunrise or picking coco plums until the sun sets.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLOR AND WHY?
My favorite color is magenta. To me this color symbolizes confidence, strength and an uncompromised sense of femininity.

TELL VIEWERS A LITTLE ABOUT THE BAHAMAS AND WHY YOU LOVE IT SO!
The Bahamas is an archipelago situated in the Atlantic Ocean.   We are an independent nation whose number one industry is tourism.  We are blessed with clear turquoise-hued waters, pink-hued sand and a warm climate that is envied by many.  Our rich heritage and dynamic culture is scattered throughout our many islands.  Each island has a unique character and something special to offer.  From our delectable cuisine to our melodic dialect these simple treasures of the Bahamas make me fall in love with my county over and over again.
